From here, you can start building your online course and adding your content.<\/p>\n<p>First, though, you need to give your eLearning course a name and configure a few of its options.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The available fields are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The course name<\/li>\n<li>The category the course belongs to \u2014 categories are managed by Administrators, and Instructors can only choose from one of them from the dropdown menu<\/li>\n<li>A short course description<\/li>\n<li>The option to activate or deactivate a course (it&#8217;s active by default)<\/li>\n<li>The ability to hide the course from the Course Catalog<\/li>\n<li>A short course code<\/li>\n<li>The course&#8217;s price (applicable to commercial training scenarios only)<\/li>\n<li>Time Limit (the number of days a learner has to complete the course)<\/li>\n<li>The ability to only allow users that have reached a certain level to take the course \u2014 yes, users can level up by completing courses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11591 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.talentlms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/add-course-dashboard-TalentLMS.png\" alt=\"Add Course - TalentLMS\" width=\"2324\" height=\"1324\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To upload a custom thumbnail, <strong>click &#8220;Select image.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, there are the certification-related options. You can also add tables, images, and links.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11592 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.talentlms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/add-your-content-dashboard-TalentLMS-1.png\" alt=\"Adding Content - TalentLMS\" width=\"2324\" height=\"1408\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In this, and several other content types, you can also <strong>set criteria for the unit&#8217;s completion: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>After the learner marked it as such<\/li>\n<li>After they&#8217;ve successfully answered a question<\/li>\n<li>Automatically, after they\u2019ve devoted the chosen time studying it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Web content<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The &#8220;Add Web content&#8221; form lets you embed material from popular websites by copying and pasting a URL address.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11579 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.talentlms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/add-web-content-dashboard-TalentLMS.png\" alt=\"Add Web Content - TalentLMS\" width=\"1600\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<p>TalentLMS supports embedded web content from <em>Youtube, Vimeo, Wistia, Wikipedia, Slideshare, Scribd, Prezi, and Flickr.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Video<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11578 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.talentlms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/add-video-content-TalentLMS.png\" alt=\"Add Video Content - TalentLMS\" width=\"2324\" height=\"1354\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With &#8220;Add Video&#8221; you can embed videos in your course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And TalentLMS gives you five options for how to do this. You can:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Directly upload a video,<\/li>\n<li>Record a video through your webcam (no software required),<\/li>\n<li>Paste a YouTube video URL<\/li>\n<li>Type a search term and pick a YouTube video from the results page<\/li>\n<li>Upload a PowerPoint presentation and have it automatically converted into a video.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><strong>Audio<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The &#8220;Add Audio&#8221; form lets you embed audio content into your course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are two ways to do this:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Directly upload an audio file (mp3, wav, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Record audio through your laptop&#8217;s microphone, a headset, or any other kind of audio recording device you have available (no special software required)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><strong>Presentation | Document<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The <strong>&#8220;Add Presentation | Document&#8221; page<\/strong> lets you upload and embed all major business file formats into your course. You can add PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx), MS Word (.doc, .docx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), and Adobe PDF (.pdf) files. <strong>TalentLMS will automatically convert the files to a format appropriate for your eLearning course.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since most content you create and use will probably be in one of these formats, these content types help you take advantage of your existing documents, letting you use them as learning content.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>SCORM | xAPI | cmi5<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This form lets you add lesson units in the eLearning industry-standard SCORM, xAPI, and cmi5 formats.<\/p>\n<p>This content type is particularly useful for transferring content from your previously used LMS. But it also helps you add content created in third-party tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline), as well as import commercial eLearning courses.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>iFrame<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Add iFrame&#8221;<\/strong> lets you include a full external webpage inside your unit. All you&#8217;ll need to do is enter the desired URL, and select whether you want your iFrame to show embedded inside your unit or in a popup window.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Test<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11577 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.talentlms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/add-test-dashboard-TalentLMS.png\" alt=\"Add Tests - TalentLMS\" width=\"2324\" height=\"1124\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With <strong>&#8220;Add Test&#8221;<\/strong> you can add tests to your course, and it all starts by giving your test a name.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Following that, the sidebar on the right allows you to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select questions (from a previously created question pool)<\/li>\n<li>Set the questions\u2019 order and weight (i.e., how much they will contribute to the overall score)<\/li>\n<li>Configure test options<\/li>\n<li>Add different types of questions. <strong>Question types include:<\/strong> <em>Free text, multiple-choice, fill the gap, ordering, and drag-and-drop<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Test configuration options include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Test duration in minutes<\/li>\n<li>Pass score (it&#8217;s 50% by default)<\/li>\n<li>Question\/answer randomization<\/li>\n<li>Allowing\/disallowing or capping repetitions (if the learner fails the test)<\/li>\n<li>Whether to show correct answers, score, completion statistics and given answers<\/li>\n<li>Whether the learner should be allowed to move between questions, or continue without giving the correct answer<\/li>\n<li>Security-related option<\/li>\n<li>A short description<\/li>\n<li>Message to be shown when a user passes or fails the test<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11589 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.talentlms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/test-options-dashboard-TalentLMS.png\" alt=\"Test Options - TalentLMS\" width=\"2324\" height=\"2245\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Survey<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>You can add a survey in TalentLMS. The way is similar (but simpler) to that for adding a test \u2014 they both boil down to creating a new unit and coming up with some questions for the learner.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11576 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.talentlms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/add-survey-TalentLMS.png\" alt=\"Add Survey - TalentLMS\" width=\"2324\" height=\"1140\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The main difference is that tests are meant to measure a learner&#8217;s understanding of a course, whereas surveys merely solicit user opinion.<\/p>\n<p>Surveys offer just two options: whether to show the answers to the user upon completion, and whether to require an answer before allowing the user to continue), and only two question types: multiple-choice (like in a poll), and free-form.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Assignment<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11572 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.talentlms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/add-assignment-TalentLMS.png\" alt=\"Add Assignments - TalentLMS\" width=\"2324\" height=\"1122\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To add an assignment, you need to provide a name first and fill in the instructions to the learner.<\/p>\n<p>You can then choose between two alternative completion criteria. Consider the assignment as completed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>when the instructor accepts the answer<\/li>\n<li>or as soon as the learner submits their answer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Instructor-led training (ILT)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>An ILT content entry works as an equivalent to an in-person training session.<\/p>\n<p>To add a new ILT entry, click on the calendar and choose <strong>&#8220;Add Instructor-Led Training&#8221;<\/strong> to select a date.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11575 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.talentlms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/add-ILT-session-TalentLMS.png\" alt=\"ILT Sessions in TalentLMS\" width=\"2324\" height=\"1355\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the pop-up window, you can give your ILT session a name and description, and set its precise start time and duration.<\/p>\n<p>You can choose between a webinar or a classroom-based session (and, for the latter, specify a location), set an optional capacity, and select the instructor.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Section<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&#8220;Section&#8221; content is a great way to organize your courses. When you add a section, TalentLMS automatically creates a heading, and you can add as many of these \u201cheadings\u201d as you want.<\/p>\n<p>TalentLMS shows section headings as small boxes with the title inside. <strong>Click &#8220;Reorder&#8221;<\/strong> to place your sections at the right place on your content list.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step #5: Share files with your learners<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Click &#8220;Files&#8221;<\/strong> from the sidebar to get to the file library.<\/p>\n<p>A course\u2019s file library is a quick and easy way to share training books, course notes, data files, and other supplementary material with your learners.<\/p>\n<p>From the file library page, you can upload new files from your computer (or import them from a URL), and <em>view, rename, download, <\/em>and<em> delete<\/em> already uploaded files.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step #6: Configure your course<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With your content added, you can now set a few course-related options.
