How to map your own domain with your TalentLMS domain

How to map your own domain with your TalentLMS domainA common question during the last few days is the following: “You provide a unique sub-domain for my account. But, how can I use my own domain as well?”

TalentLMS offers two important tools that let you map your own domain

a) First, you can rename the domain name you picked on registration whenever you want (e.g, change mysite.talentlms.com to mynewsite.talentlms.com)

b) You can map an external domain to your talentlms domain

For mapping an external domain you need to do the following:

  1. Login as Admin and go to “Account & Settings->Domain”
  2. Use the button at the bottom of the page that says “Set external domain mapping”
  3. On Domain Map field you need to add your own domain (e.g, mydomain.com)

Once you enter a domain here, it will be used immediately. Still, you must create a proper CNAME DNS record on your own domain for the mapping to work. A CNAME, or Canonical Name, record is an entry within the Domain Name System (DNS) that specifies where a user can find your web pages, or any other URL. You’ll use the CNAME to associate your custom domain with your TalentLMS domain. Each hosting service has slightly different ways to create CNAME records. You need to have access to administer your domain; otherwise you need the help of your administrator to complete this task. When creating the CNAME, use your domain name (e.g, www.mybusiness.com) on the NAME field and ‘talentlms.com’ on DATA field.
